No offense Ed, but you're not hearing what we're saying. Sure, the top end of the corporation is making the right noises. *But the people at the coalface - the sales reps - are very definitely not*
Read the last few messages again. Look for the common thread. It's not IBM, the corporation. It's those representatives of IBM out there trying to bully the customer into WebSphere, no matter what they want or what is best for them.
I can understand that to a degree - a WebSphere sale is always going to be a bigger sale than a Domino one - thus bigger commissions. This is good in the short-term for the sales rep, but it's a poor long-term strategy for the company.
I think what I'm trying to say is that you should stop trying to sell the strategy and direction to us - we're already convinced. Go down and sell it to the sales force. Make it clear to them, and make sure that they make it clear to the clients - because that's where the nervousness is.
